Fiber Closure Installation Preparation

  Messages et commentaires

Fiber Closure provides space for splicing outdoor fiber optic cables together. Fiber splice trays are also required. They provide perfect protection for external plant fiber cable joints.

Fiber Closure installation steps:
1. Fiber optic cable jacket preparation

a. Expose the tear line. This step involves marking the marked location with tape, cutting the jacket with a sharp knife ring, removing the corrugated armor if applicable, and scraping off the outer jacket to expose the tear line.

b. Remove the outer sheath. This step includes slitting longitudinally along the outer sheath, stripping the outer sheath and corrugated metal, and cutting the tear line that is flush with the corrugated metal end.

c. Remove the inner sheath. This step involves cutting the slit rope under the inner sheath, cutting the aramid yarn, cutting the central strength member, and cleaning the filling compound.

2. Bonding and grounding hardware installation
Slide the cable clip onto the jacket, slide the bond shoe under the corrugated metal, place the bond plate on the bond shoe and secure the sheath clip.

3. Assemble the cable to the connector box
The preferred location of the two main cables is in the lower end plate port. If a third or fourth cable is required, it is easier to install it as a drop cable in the upper end port. This fiber splice closure is designed for two of each of the two ports. If only one cable is installed in the port, replace the second cable with the supplied rubber washer plug.

a. Install the cable to the end plate. This step includes unscrewing the knob and removing the grommet holder, positioning the end plate assembly, attaching the sheath holder to the dielectric cable, sliding the cable and the sheath clamp, and securing the sheath to the trunk.

b. Washer mounting and external grounding. This step involves using a B-seal, pushing the gasket into the end plate port and applying more B-seal.

c. Fiber Unit Preparation and Distribution Manager Installation. This step involves removing the looser tubes, dividing the loose tubes of each cable into two groups, positioning the dispensing organizer, securing the loose tubes to the dispensing organizer, and securing the loose tubes.

d. Connector tray installation. This step involves placing the splice tray, securing the end of the splice tray to the finisher, then installing the cable, grommet, and external ground.

e. Fiber connection. This step involves placement of the connector bracket, fiber bonding and securing the connector bracket cover.

4. The fiber connector cover is installed so that all the installations are completed.
